Malama Hamakua Maui
Mālama Hāmākua Maui organizes consistent, hands-on stewardship efforts at Hāmākualoa Kulaiwi in Haʻikū. We care for this open space so it remains accessible, safe, and welcoming for the entire community.
Through monthly Kōkua Days and group work sessions, we restore native plants, remove trash and abandoned debris, maintain signage, reduce fire load through mowing and clearing, and mālama culturally significant areas. Our native plant restoration work focuses on rebuilding habitat and bringing balance back to the land over time.
This is an open space where everyone is invited to participate. We create structured opportunities for individuals, families, schools, and community groups to step in and help — no experience necessary. Whether someone joins once or returns month after month, they become part of a growing community rooted in shared care for this place.
Everything we do is grounded in consistency, restoration, and connection — to ʻāina and to one another.
