Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park
Twice a year, Friends of Kamalani hosts two community workdays: Earth Day & Make A Difference Day where our focus is the maintenance and preservation of the entire park.
Each and every Saturday morning from 8:30-10:30, a group of community “friends” gather to clean up the beach at the Lydgate Beach Park swimming ponds. Looking for something to do that is rewarding and gives back to Kauaʻi? Come join our community volunteers on Saturday.
Some of the things we do:
1) Cleaning up the beach area by the Morgan Ponds swimming areas
2) Cleaning up and removal of plant debris from the Heiaus – Hauola Heiau trees and bushes
3) Park beautification with trash and litter pickup from the park
4) Creation, repairs, and maintenance of “beach furniture” made from debris
5) Watering of the grass as needed
6) Enjoy snacks, coffee, and water at the end of work
Join us in making new friends, and hanging out with old friends, as we mālama our beloved island of Kauaʻi
Mahalo nui loa for the gracious support from the County of Kauaʻi, Department of Parks & Recreation; Castle Resorts and Hotels and the Kaha Lani Association of Apartment Owners; The Royal Coconut Coast Association; Home Depot in the Community; Starbucks Coffee; the Y’s Men; YWCA of Kaua‘i; Kapa‘a Rotary; Friends of Bernard; Hilton Garden Inn Wailua Bay, and generous contributions from many other businesses and organization and you—the many Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park
